  1. Written appeal by certified mail within 30 days of the denial date, asking for the technician's report and the exact contract clause. Keep the receipt.
  2. Regulator complaint the same week, with the appeal attached. Regulators generally require the company to respond in writing within a few weeks.
  3. Public complaint through the Better Business Bureau. The large companies answer nearly all of them.
  4. Small claims for the gap if it fits under the cap; otherwise the arbitration the contract names, where the consumer's filing fee is capped by the arbitration provider's consumer rules.
