Alure Home Improvements customers: what the filing means and what to do

Alure Home Improvements, a Commack remodeler known across Long Island for kitchens, baths, windows, siding and roofing, closed abruptly when its parent, Renovo Home Partners, filed Chapter 7 on November 3, 2025, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. Alure Home Improvements, LLC and Alure Designs, LLC are debtors in that case, jointly administered under Renovo Home Partners, LLC, case 25-11937 (TMH).

Where things stand

Chapter 7 is a liquidation: Alure is closed and will not finish jobs, and the trustee, Ricardo Palacio, collects whatever the companies own. Long Island coverage reported hundreds of former customers with unfinished work and more than 600 creditors listed nationwide, so a bankruptcy distribution is likely to be small. New York has no statewide recovery fund, and New York City's trust fund does not reach Long Island, so the paths are the card dispute, the lender if the job was financed, the proof of claim, and your county's consumer affairs office, which licenses home improvement contractors; Suffolk County's took complaints against Alure's licensed representatives.

What a customer can do, in order

  1. Card payments first. If any payment went on a credit or debit card, call the issuer and open a dispute for services not rendered. The bankruptcy does not stop a chargeback; the card network's clock does.
  2. File the proof of claim. If a case is open, the court will mail a notice with a bar date. Official Form 410 is free, no lawyer needed. A deposit for household services is a priority claim up to $3,800 for cases filed on or after April 1, 2025; mark the priority box and attach the contract and receipts.
  3. The state path. New York has no state fund; Home Improvement Contractor Trust Fund (New York City only) applies inside the city only. The New York page has the license lookup, the deposit rule, and the small-claims cap. Note: a licensing complaint and a fund claim are not stopped by the bankruptcy stay in most states because they run against the license, not the debtor's assets; confirm with the agency.
  4. Subcontractor notices. A sub's lien is limited to what you still owed the contractor when the lien was filed (Lien Law s. 4). Paid in full means no exposure.
  5. Financing. If the contractor arranged a loan, write to the lender. A lender on a contractor-arranged consumer loan generally takes the loan subject to the claims you have against the contractor (the FTC Holder Rule); ask for a stop on payments while the claim is resolved.
